Links and Car Porn

Captain Capitalism (Aaron Clarey) asserted this week that Socialist Lies Cause Pretty Deaths. He links to this article and, on the face of it, I might be instinctively inclined to agree with him, had I not read his very own book Curse of the High IQ.

To summarise, the article he links to complains that people are increasingly turning to drink and drugs to numb the pain of a futile existence. Cappy says ‘ha ha fuck you, you normies voted for this shit’.

But in his book, he cites drink and drugs as the go to choice of people marginalised from normie society by their high IQs and unorthodox view of the world.

I suggest that the truth is somewhere in between. While it’s observably true that high IQ people are more likely to turn to self-destruction as a way of opting out of a world that isn’t theirs, increasing swathes of normal people are feeling comparable alienation due to the increasing levels of cognitive dissonance that is forced down our throats by the post-modernist left’s convolutions on every topic from multiculturalism to gender.

… on which note, a story in which a trans person is prosecuted, accused of being transphobic, by a non-trans trans ‘ally’.

Screen Shot 2019-03-07 at 15.26.53

The story started with a social media spat between Yardley and a campaigner called Helen Islan. Yardley is a transsexual with a strong view on gender politics: namely that male people cannot become female people just because they want to. Most people would probably agree with that but in the looking glass world of Twitter such views are verboten (hence why Miranda was booted from the platform in 2018).

Islan is a self-proclaimed trans ally who seeks to defend the rights of trans people. While that might sound a noble aim (trans people continue to face disproportionate abuse just for wanting to live their lives in peace), the term has become increasingly politicised: in fact most allies spend their time focusing on attacking anyone (women’s groups in particular) who suggests that the issue of transgenderism might more complicated than allowing anyone who feels female to be legally treated as such. Islan has also been closely connected with Mermaids UK, a charity that recently secured half a million pounds of lottery money to expand its services for children and teenagers who feel at odds with their birth gender.

In April last year, Islan complained about Yardley to West Yorkshire Police. This constabulary has a record of investigating potential transphobic hate crime with enthusiasm.

And to draw these threads together, Cappy is fond of posting stories about delinquent single mothers with the catchphrase ‘the father was not available for comment‘.

But then you see a story like this and wonder, why the father would stick around to pass comment when this is what he gets for his trouble.

Last week the Supreme Court of British Columbia ruled that a trans-identifying 14-year-old girl could be given testosterone injections against her father’s wishes.

The judge ruled that if the father insisted on assuming his parental rights it would be tantamount to ‘family violence’. The court also ruled that if either parent referred to the girl using female pronouns or addressed her by her birth name, this too would be considered family violence.

If you’re in any doubt that hipsters are, in the main, cardboard cutout NPCs, here’s a story of a millenial hipster who complained about a company using his likeness in an article.

Except the image wasn’t him. It was a completely different soy boy from whom our NPC was unable to distinguish himself.

The title of the piece that used the ‘likeness’?

The hipster effect: Why anti-conformists always end up looking the same

This old piece from The Onion is linked to by Ace while commenting on the new Marvel film, in which a girl kicks people 4 times her size square in the balls, all day long:

“Shopping for shoes has emerged as a powerful means by which women assert their autonomy,” Klein said. “Owning and wearing dozens of pairs of shoes is a compelling way for a woman to announce that she is strong and independent, and can shoe herself without the help of a man. She’s saying, ‘Look out, male-dominated world, here comes me and my shoes.'”

One wonders what proportion of 15-year-old stories from The Onion (or for that matter The Daily Mash) are today trumped by what passes now for reality.

A WOMAN with a chaotic personal life and a history of believing in total nonsense is now being paid to give people advice, shocked friends have revealed.

Nikki Hollis earns a healthy income from counselling people, despite having done countless idiotic things in her own life such as repeatedly dating clearly awful men and joining a religious cult.

Today’s car porn is a lush Lancia Delta HF Integrale – a 4WD, 200BHP rally monster, and another one of those cars you could pick up for a song 10 years ago, but really can’t now. I knew a chap who paid £6K for one of these, and drove it like he stole it. The same car would be north of £40K now.

The pictured cars vary in vintage from about 1989-1994. The linked article explains that this was voted Best Hot Hatch ever… and it’s certainly a contender.

Adherants of the VW Golf GTi mk1, Corrado VR6, Pug 205 GTi, Renault 5 Turbo, Clio Cup or the Fiesta RS Turbo may dissent. I don’t recall Vauxhall/Holden ever having a dog in this fight in the 90’s. The Nova GTE was awful and there was never a hot Corsa until very recently.

More pics with the story here.
